Linguaphone: Spoken Egyptian Arabic
Linguaphone – Spoken Egyptian Arabic
Linguaphone Institute, 1961 / scanned books PDF / MP3

The Linguaphone Institute have rendered a very great service to the public in preparing this Course of Spoken Egyptian Arabic. This Course will not only be of use to European residents and travellers in Egypt, but of considerable interest to students of Classical Arabic: it therefore has both a practical and scientific value.

The text of this Course was recorded by well-known Egyptians chosen by the Linguaphone Insitute for the purity of their diction and their faultless pronunciation.

Like most of the 1960s and 1970s era Linguaphone courses, this was actually a pretty decent self-learning tool in its day. The scope and volume of language content certainly goes far beyond (for example) the Egyptian Arabic version of “Colloquial Arabic” currently being published. Some of the language may be a little bit old fashioned now? But it’s likely still of benefit – especially considering the relative paucity of even half-serious resources for learners of Egyptian Dialect.
